Senior Accountant

Department: Administration
Location: Panorama City , CA

Title: Senior Accountant

Salary Range: $100,000-$135,000/Year

Purpose:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing general ledger activity, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and maintaining compliance with GAAP and company policies.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and reviews monthly journal entries and account reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts.
  • Participates in the timely and accurate completion of month end close, playing a key role in the process.
  • Monitors and analyzes accounting data, investigates variances and produces financial reports or statements.
  • Maintains general ledger integrity and chart of accounts.
  • Assists in the preparation of the month end reporting pack sent to senior management.
  • Ensures compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Properly records and documents financial transactions.
  • Analyzes detailed transactions and determines their accuracy and reasonableness given accounting principles and company goals.
  • Completes the monthly submission in Hyperion.
  • Manages fixed assets and maintains the fixed assets reporting system.
  • Prepares and completes annual filings for property tax, business tax, etc.
  • Gathers and coordinates supporting documents for the year end external audit.
  • Monitors and updates sales tax codes in MAS and R2.
  • Gathers and documents rate information to support updates to MAS and R2.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA or CPA Candidate preferred or in-depth job specific skills acquired through a combination of formal instruction and on the job training.
  • Proven work experience in general accounting; minimum 5 years of accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Advanced Excel and MS Office skills.
  • Strong computer and business solutions software skills.
  • Experience with ERP/Accounting systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be proactive and have a “get things done” attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to identify discrepancies and explain variances.
  • Must be detail oriented along with thorough documentation skills.
