Title: Lighting & Rigging Designer (CAD Specialist
Salary Range: $120,000-$156,000/Year
Position Overview
Creative Technology US is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Lighting & Rigging Designer to join our team, specifically supporting our strategic partnership with Spring Studios. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between creative vision and technical execution. You will be responsible for creating precise CAD drawings for complex lighting and rigging plots while managing the end-to-end design process for live events, fashion shows, and high-end productions.
Key Responsibilities
• CAD Drafting & Design: Produce detailed, accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings (lighting plots, rigging points, and structural layouts) using Vectorworks.
• Technical Specification: Translate creative concepts into actionable technical specifications, ensuring all designs meet structural integrity standards and safety regulations.
• Rigging Analysis: Calculate weight loads and rigging requirements, coordinating closely with venue engineers and internal rigging leads to ensure safe and efficient installation.
• Spring Studios Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for Spring Studios for technical design needs; ensure all documentation meets their venue-specific requirements and standards.
• Collaboration: Work seamlessly with the sales and project management teams to prepare quotes, assist in site surveys, and provide technical guidance during the bidding processand facilitate it all on-site
• Documentation Management: Maintain an organized library of CAD files, plot revisions, and gear lists for recurring projects and long-term client accounts.
Required Qualifications
• Proficiency in Vectorworks: Expert-level ability to produce professional-grade lighting and rigging plots.
• Industry Expertise: Strong understanding of live event production environments, including current lighting fixtures, rigging hardware, and industry safety standards (ESTA/PLASA).
• Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both non-technical clients and production crews.
• Attention to Detail: Exceptional precision in drafting and the ability to manage multiple project timelines simultaneously.
• Professionalism: Proven experience in high-pressure, client-facing environments.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Lightwright for paperwork management.
• Previous experience working in high-end fashion or editorial production environments.
• Knowledge of automated lighting systems and media server integration.
